Feedback form is now closed.
Communities today are more divided than ever. COVID-19 has driven many out of the public sphere, and many of us feel separated by political fault lines. Creative placemaking provides a unique opportunity to imagine and build a shared future where we all can belong. Cultural events, food and arts are essential for building community, supporting development, nurturing health and well-being, and contributing to economic opportunity.

This session explores how programs, partnerships and policy all contribute to a thriving cultural community and a shared sense of belonging. Attendees will leave this session with tools and resources that support:

  • Using an arts and culture strategy to create a sense of belonging
  • Exploring how the presence of food sets the table for conversation and curiosity
  • Examining new alliances & partnerships that embraces arts, food, and culture as a way to shift policy toward more equitable outcomes for all
