Founder/Executive Director

Emi Gittleman is Get Empowered!’s Founder/Executive Director. MA Education. Emi's lifelong journey and purpose are perfectly in line with Get Empowered!'s mission of uplifting, unifying and empowering. Emi was born in Queens, NY, and did a work/study cultural exchange program in Spain and Japan (where she also attended college for one year). She has maintained her connection to world cultures by bringing multicultural arts education to Spain, Japan, Guadalupe, Mexico, Israel, Canada and the Dominican Republic.

In 2005 she founded GlobalArts to Go, a company with the vision to use cultural arts and education as creative, accessible tools to bring people together regardless of their backgrounds, learning levels and walks of life. They have a roster of over 70 dynamic cultural artists, professional educators and master training specialists (representing 30 different countries and speaking over 40 languages) who travel to different communities with unique and custom-designed programs.

Emi holds a Masters in Education & Multicultural Curriculum Development from the esteemed Bank Street Graduate School of Education in New York City. She also has a Teaching Certification for Early Childhood through Elementary school-aged children. In 1991, Emi received a Certificate in International Studies from the School for International Training upon completion of a work/study program in Japan.

Emi has had several works published including the award-winning series: "World Playground Multicultural Activity Kit and Latin Playground Bi-lingual Activity Kit" (Putumayo World Music) and "How to Be an Environmental Shopper" (Pennsylvania Resources Council). She has developed multi-media education content and trained over 20,000 teachers and administrators (including family and community members). She embraces the importance of taking a fun, holistic, and multi-sensory approach to teaching and learning that incorporate creative hooks of the cultural and healing arts along with mindfulness practices in a safe and supportive environment.
