Heather Quackenboss

Extension La Crosse County
Human Development and Relationship Educator

Heather’s journey with COVID started with a break and surgery of her ankle two weeks before life changed for everyone.  Learning to navigate asking for help, boundaries, and crutches during a pandemic while figuring out how to share Wi-Fi with 3 teenagers for school at home while she worked from home was something she never imagined.

Heather Quackenboss is the Human Development and Relationships Educator at UW Madison Division of Extension in La Crosse County. Her focus is on wellbeing, culture and diversity, community collaboration, and mental wellness.  She is certified in the Science of Happiness at Work through UC Berkeley, has been trained with UW Madison Public Health and Division of Extension as a facilitator for Racism as a Public Health Crisis and with Racial Justice from the Heart, facilitates Racial Justice with the YWCA, BLACK, and Ho-Chunk Nation, develops curriculum in wellbeing, and has training to facilitate WeCOPE and Compassion Resilience.  Heather has worked for over 20 years in and with nonprofit agencies in La Crosse County.

With her MS in Therapeutic Recreation paired with her travels to the USSR, work in prison, and parenting 3 teenagers, Heather uses compassion, adaptability, and empathy as tools that apply theory to real life in realistic ways for the people participating.
